How to Install a Nissan Sentra Engine Mount

The engine mount in a Nissan Sentra is designed to anchor the engine to the vehicle, while offering some shock absorption to the vehicle, in order to prevent vibration transfer from the engine to the rest of the car. Engine mounts are placed under considerable strain during their lifespan and will fail, sooner or later, depending on how the vehicle is operated. If your engine mount fails, prepare to spend a few hours installing a new one.

Put your safety glasses on and slide under the car.
2

Use the flashlight to locate the engine mount and bolts holding the mount in place.
3

Remove the bolt holding the engine mount to the chassis using your socket set. This may require some serious elbow grease, so be careful not to overdo it and smash your knuckles when the bolt finally comes free and turns.
4

Climb out and slide the jack under, placing the jack head near the engine mount, but not on it.
5

Jack the engine up far enough for the engine mount to lift off the chassis where you removed the bolt in step three.
6

Climb back under and remove the bolt holding the engine mount to the engine. Put the old mount to the side, position the new mount and then bolt it to the engine in reverse of how you removed the old mount.
7

Climb back out and lower the engine. Pull the jack out and climb back under the Sentra.
8

Install the bolt into the engine mount from the chassis and tighten it down in reverse of how it was removed.

Tips & Warnings

It is best to familiarize yourself with this procure in the service manual before you purchase a new mount or slide under the Sentra to begin. Having a visual idea of what you are after, as well as what you will be doing, helps tremendously during the actual replacement.
