If the tail light assembly needs to be replaced, the job is a simple one that requires only a screwdriver, a wrench and a replacement assembly. The process varies slightly depending on the model, but it should still take no more than 10 minutes.

Things You'll Need
Phillips screwdriver
Socket wrench
Replacement tail light assembly
Nissan Car

Turn off the engine. Open the trunk.

Remove the fasteners from the tail lamp assembly and carefully push back the carpet.

Remove the two nuts and pull out the tail light assembly. Disconnect the electric connector.

Connect the electrical connector to the replacement assembly. Place the replacement assembly into the vehicle.

Reattach the two nuts and push the carpet back to its initial position. Reattach the fasteners to the tail lamp assembly and close the trunk.

Turn off the engine. Open the tail gate.

Unscrew the two tailgate assembly screws behind the tail light assembly. Carefully pull the tail light assembly out.

Disconnect all three electrical connectors from the tail lamp assembly. Remove the assembly from the vehicle.

Place the replacement tail light assembly into the truck. Connect all three electrical connectors to the assembly.

Reinstall the two tailgate assembly screws. Close the tailgate.

Turn off the engine. Open the rear door.

Remove the two screws from the inside of the vehicle, behind the tail light assembly. This will loosen the assembly. Unplug the three electrical connectors and remove the assembly from the vehicle.

Place the replacement assembly into the vehicle. Connect the three electrical connectors to the assembly.
4

Reinstall the two screws. Close the rear door.
