How to Remove the Dashboard in a Nissan Maxima

Many vehicle repairs require dashboard removal in your Nissan Maxima. For instance, much of the ventilation system can only be accessed by pulling away the dashboard first. Other owners may simply need to replace the dashboard, which can become cracked and damaged by the suns harmful rays. Removing the dashboard is a task that requires some time to accomplish, as there are many clips and screws that hold it into place.
Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
Things You'll Need
Hook tool
Wrench
Philips head screwdriver
1

Remove the air vents in the center of the dash by placing a hook tool into the top of the air vents. Gently pry on it until the clips come lose and the vents slide out.
2

Remove the four bolts inside of the vent opening.
3

Remove the glove box by opening it. Then push in on the sides while pulling on the glove box door.
4

Unbolt the two bolts behind the glove box.
5

Unscrew the screws around the instrument panel with a Philips head screwdriver.
6

Remove the two bolts on the underside of the steering column. This will drop the column, so make sure you are holding it up with one hand while removing the bolts.
7

Remove the dashboard by starting at the passenger side of the dash and gently prying it off with your hands. Go around the entire perimeter of the dashboard until the whole thing is removed.

Tips & Warnings

Be careful when prying off the plastic air vents and the large plastic dashboard piece. They are held in place with small plastic clips that can be easily broken if too much force is exerted.
