How to Replace the Rear Signal Lights in a Nissan Sentra

When one of the rear signal lights on your Nissan Sentra burns out, all you need is a replacement bulb to repair it. The switch doesn't require mechanical experience, and the replacement bulbs only cost a few bucks. These instructions don't apply to Sentra models made before 2000.
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
Things You'll Need
#3057K replacement bulb (2007 and later models)
#1156 replacement bulb (2000-2006 models)
1

Remove the keys from the ignition and engage the emergency brake for safety.
2

Walk around to the back of your Sentra and gently pry the taillight cover away from the rear quarter-panel.
3

Loosen the turn signal bulb socket by turning it counterclockwise and remove it from the taillight assembly.
4

Press the old bulb into the socket, turn it counterclockwise and pull it out. Dispose of the bulb immediately to prevent it from becoming a hazard.
5

Screw the new bulb into the socket until it stops twisting. Avoid placing too much pressure on the bulb, as this may cause it to crack.
6

Turn your car back on and activate the turn signal. If the bulb blinks, press the taillight cover back into place.

Tips & Warnings

Your Nissan Sentra's stop, tail and turn signal lights are all housed in the same light assembly. If you're unsure of which bulb to replace, check the combination light diagram in Section 8 of your owner's manual.
