How to Open the Nissan Versa 2008 Gas Tank

Locking gas-tank doors have become quite common in recent years. Many vehicles are equipped with interior-release handles that spring the gas-tank door open. The 2008 Nissan Versa is one of those vehicles. If you've recently acquired your Versa, and are trying to fill it up for the first time, it can be frustrating if you don't know how to open the gas-tank door. Fortunately, the Nissan Versa's gas-tank release handle is easily accessed.
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
1

Locate your gas-tank door release. Look to the left of your steering wheel, and then down a few inches. The gas-tank door release is right next to the hood release. It is labeled with an icon of a gas pump.
2

Turn the engine off. Pull the release toward you to unlock the gas-tank door.
3

Step out of your Versa and move to the rear passenger side. Grasp the edge of the gas-tank door and pull it all the way open.
4

Twist the gas-cap handle to the left to unscrew it from the fuel-filler neck.
5

Re-attach the gas cap to the fuel-filler neck. Turn the gas cap to the right until you hear at least three clicks. This signals that the gas cap is attached correctly.

Tips & Warnings

Not properly tightening your gas cap can cause a "Check-Engine Light" to illuminate. Make sure the cap clicks three times.
