How to Remove Nissan Speakers

If you need to remove the speakers for your Nissan vehicle's stereo, know that their locations can vary depending on the type of vehicle you have. Almost all vehicles have speakers in the front door. The rear speakers' positions will depend on whether you have a car or truck. All speakers are held in place not just with screws but by some type of panel that you will need to remove first.
Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
Things You'll Need
Wrench
Towel
Trim stick
Phillips screwdriver
1

Disconnect the cable from the Nissan's negative battery terminal. Smaller cars may use a cable that you'll only need to snap off. On trucks, you might have to loosen a clamp with a wrench.
2

Remove the front door's inner trim panel if it contains the speaker you are trying to remove. This requires you to disconnect the window controls (unclip the crank by rubbing a towel behind it, or pry off the power controls with a trim stick), unscrew all of the panel's mounting screws, lift the panel off the door and disconnect all electrical connectors.
3

Pry off the rear quarter panel trim to remove rear speakers in a Nissan truck. These are usually held in place by pop-type fasteners. Pull off the panel, grabbing and pulling it at the front-side edge first.
4

Remove the rear package shelf if you have speakers behind the back seat in a Nissan car. Pry out the roof pillars with a trim stick, then use the same tool to pry off the shelf, sliding the tool under the shelf's edge until you locate the plastic pins holding the shelf in place.
5

Unscrew the mounting screws for the speaker you are removing. There are usually four screws on one speaker, and they require a Phillips screwdriver.
6

Lift or pull the speaker carefully out of its mounting hole in the vehicle to remove it. Disconnect the electrical connector in the back of the speaker.

Tips & Warnings

Installing a speaker is the reverse of removal. If you are installing a new speaker, you'll need to either make sure its electrical connector fits with the vehicle's or individually connect the wires by crimping or soldering.
