How to Fix Up a 2003 Nissan Sentra SE-R

Fix Up a 2003 Nissan Sentra SE-R

The Sentra is a compact car built by Nissan. It primarily competes with the Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic and Mazda 3. The SE-R version of the Sentra is the high-performance sport model. It adds a larger engine, larger tires and wheels and sporty body trim. Fixing up your Sentra SE-R is a must if you wish to sell it or trade it in, or even if you just want your daily driver to look and run better.
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
Things You'll Need
Replacement tires
Car wax
1

Bring your Nissan Sentra SE-R to a service shop to have all routine maintenance performed. Change the oil and the oil filter (recommended oil 5w30). Have the transmission and radiator flushed. The Sentra SE-R is equipped with the 2.5 liter engine with a timing chain rather than a belt. There is no need to change the timing chain; however, you may want to have it serviced.
2

Inspect the tires and replace them if needed. The Sentra SE-R only uses 17-inch tires, so keep this in mind when shopping for replacements. Look for signs of dry rot or flat spots if the vehicle has been sitting up for a while.
3

Have your Sentra SE-R fully detailed, or perform the detail yourself. Older vehicles are best served by removing the seats for steam-cleaning, as well as the carpet, to get rid of stains and odors. Note any broken interior trim pieces and replace them as needed.
4

Ask a body shop professional to appraise any damage, including scratches in your paint. Fix the damage and apply a fresh coat of wax to restore your Sentra's paint luster.
