How to Install Fog Lights on a Nissan 300ZX

The Nissan 300ZX is a fast, fun-to-drive sportscar. The 300ZX is versatile and can be considered fuel efficient compared to other, pricier sportscars. The 300ZX is also safe, making it a great commuter vehicle or daily driver. However, it is sometimes necessary to install additional lighting in order to provide better visibility--or just to add a little extra aesthetic appeal. Fog lights can easily be wired by any novice mechanic.
Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
Things You'll Need
Drill
Screwdriver
Knife
Electrical tape
1

Mark 12 inches from either end of the front bumper, as this is where you will eventually mount the fog lights.
2

Drill two mounting holes in the locations you marked and mount the fog lights onto the underside of the bumper with the included hardware.
3

Run the light wiring behind the bumper body and connect the ground wire from the fog lights to the side of the 300ZX's firewall. Run the power wire up to the headlights' wiring harness and use the knife to cut a bare spot in the wiring.
4

Wrap the end of the power wire from the fog lights around the exposed headlight wire and then wrap the wires with electrical tape. Check to verify that the lights operate with the headlight switch.

Tips & Warnings

Disconnect the battery prior to beginning this project to prevent shorts in the electrical system.
