How to Install Speakers in a Nissan Frontier

Nissan Frontier

You've decided you want to replace the weak stock speakers that came in your older Nissan Frontier truck. The process, using the easy access options incorporated by Nissan, is quite simple, and even the most technically challenged can have new speakers up and running in hardly any time at all.
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
Things You'll Need
Flathead screwdriver
Replacement speakers
Phillips screwdriver
Wire clippers
Wire crimper
Soldering iron
Copper solder
1

Open the truck door, and remove the speaker cover panel. To do this, slide the edge of a flathead screwdriver under the top right corner of the panel, and pry it up gently. This will allow all the edges to slide up over their clips. Set the panel aside.
2

Loosen and remove the current speaker's mounting screws using a Phillips screwdriver. Slide the speaker out of its mounting bay.
3

Use wire clippers to cut the wire as close to the rear of the speaker as possible. The more wire you have to work with, the better. Set the old speaker aside.
4

Use a wire crimper to cut and remove the wiring insulation about 1/2 inch back from the end of the wiring. Then, wrap each wiring end around its corresponding mount on the speaker. The positive wire will be red, and the negative wire will be black.
5

Use a soldering iron to lay a small bead of copper solder over each of these connections. Make the solder as clean as possible.
6

Slide the speaker back into the bay, and secure it using the mounting screws you just removed.
7

Place the speaker cover back over the speaker bay. The cover simply clicks back into place.

Tips & Warnings

It may be useful to have another person hold the speaker while you solder the connections.

Always use caution when working around soldering irons and possible live electrical ends.
