How to Use a Nissan Truck Jack

Nissan provides a scissor jack and tool kit for emergency wheel and tire changes.

If you ever experience a flat tire while on the road with your Nissan truck, you will need to use the truck jack the manufacturer provides to change your tire. No need to panic, however. The truck jack is a simple scissor jack commonly used for emergency flat tires.



Before using the truck jack, you will need to assemble the pieces. The manufacturer includes a jack rod and tool kit for assembly; storage is never a problem considering that the truck jack can be disassembled. Usage proves easier with the jack-up points to guide the process. You can find the jack-up points on the side of the frame of your truck.

Locate the truck jack and tool kit for your model truck. For some trucks, the jack and toolkit are under the rear bench seat; fold up the seat to get to the jack. For Nissan SUVs, lift the luggage board in the cargo area to find the jack.

Unscrew the jack and toolkit by turning the screw counterclockwise and remove the jack.

Assemble the two straight pieces of the jack rod. Then pass the T-shaped end through the oval-shaped opening above the license plate. Be sure to leave it directed toward the spare tire winch.

Continue assembly of the truck jack by placing the square end of the jack rod in the square hole of the wheel nut wrench to form a handle. Seat the T-shaped end of jack rod in the tire winch.

Apply pressure to keep the jack rod stable in the tire winch, turn the jack rod counterclockwise and lower the spare tire. Remove the retainer chain before pulling out the spare tire completely.

Loosen each wheel nut one or two turns by turning counterclockwise with the wheel nut wrench to begin jacking up the vehicle to remove the damaged tire.

Place the truck jack directly under the jack-up point so that the top of the jack contacts the vehicle at the jack-up point. Install the assembled jack rod into the jack.

Hold the jack lever and rod securely, then carefully raise the vehicle by turning the jack rod until the tire clears the ground. Use a wrench to remove the wheel nuts and tire.

Lower vehicle slowly after placing the spare tire on the mount. Secure the wheel nuts.

Return jack and tool kit to proper storage area.

Tips & Warnings

When inserting the jack rod in the opening, be sure to insert it an angle. Do not insert jack rod at a straight angle as it will not be able to stand the pressure of the truck.

Do not remove wheel nuts until tire is off the ground.
