How to Install a Nissan Altima Coupe Grill

The grill of the Nissan Altima automobile serves a dual function. Mechanically, it protects the radiator and other forward engine components from damage. Aesthetically, it adds visual appeal to the car. Due to its location, the grill is often one of the first components damaged in even a minor collision. If the grill on your Altima is cracked, you can install a replacement in less than an hour. Often you can find an economical replacement grill at a salvage yard.
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
Things You'll Need
Phillips screwdriver
Small, flat-blade screwdriver
1

Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the three screws that attach the front of the fender protector to the grill. The screws are found on the bottom side of the protector.
2

Remove the lower engine cover. This is the part below your engine that prevents water and mud from splashing into the engine. There are four plastic screws that hold it in place.
3

Disconnect the fog lamp electrical connectors, if equipped. Unsnap the electrical connector from the back of the fog-light bulb socket.
4

Remove the two clips that connect the front bumper fascia. They are found on the top of the fascia, just to the inside of the headlights. Use a flat-blade screwdriver to pry up the center of the clip and then pull the clip out with your fingers or a pair of pliers.
5

Remove the four clips from the top of the grill. They are identical to the clips that attach the bumper fascia. With the clips removed, pull the grill away from the vehicle by grabbing the top. There are four additional clips at the bottom of the grill that will release when you pull.
Installation
1

Position the grill in place with the clips on the bottom of the grill inserted into the slots on the vehicle. Push the top section of the grill back into place. Insert the four clips and press down their centers to lock them into place.
2

Replace the fascia. Place it in the proper location and insert the two clips. Press down their centers to lock them into place.
3

Reconnect the fog light electrical connectors, if equipped.
4

Replace the under cover and insert the four plastic screws. If you find the plastic screws no longer hold it in place, you can take them to a parts store to have them replaced with metal screws.
5

Replace the three screws on each side that attach the fender protector to the grill.
