How to Change the Cabin Air Filter in a Nissan Frontier

Nissan frontier cabin air filter

The air cleaner filter should not be cleaned and reused. Replace it according to the maintenance log shown in the “NISSAN Service and Maintenance Guide.”When replacing the filter, wipe the inside of the air cleaner filter housing and the cover with a damp cloth.

Type A

To remove the air cleaner filter Type A
1. Loose the screw.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector.
3. Push down on the clips and remove the air cleaner cover.Remove the air cleaner filter.

Type B

To remove the air cleaner filter Type B
1. Unlatch the clips A,B,C
2. Push down half of air cleaner to clear the bottom retainers.
3. Lift up on half of air cleaner to remove the air cleaner filter.

Replace the old air filter with a new air filter and reassemble.Do check the arrows in the given figure.

Cabin air filter

In- Cabin - Microfilters or CABIN AIR FILTER , restricts the entry of air borne dust and pollen particles and reduces some objectionable outside odors.The filter is located behind the gloves box.To replace the filters perform the following procedures:
Follow the arrows in the given diagrammatic pictorial representation at every steps.

Open gloves box

Open the gloves box and and press in on the sides so that it will open completely allowing it to hang by the cord.

Remove bolt and filter

Then,remove the filter cover bolt and remove the filter cover.

Insert filter

Note that the filters are marked with air flow arrows.The end of the filter with the arrow should face the rear of the vehicle. The arrows should face downward.Insert the first filter into the housing and slide it over to the right. Insert the second filter into the housing.

Replace the filter cover.

Install the glove box door.

Fill out the date information on the small replacement label and attach it to the glove box lid.

Tips & Warnings

Operating the engine with the air cleaner removed can cause you or others to be burned. The air cleaner not only cleans the air, it stops the flame if the engine backfires. If it isn'’t there, and the engine back fires, you could be burned.Do not drive with the air cleaner removed, and be careful when working on the engine with the air cleaner removed.

Never pour fuel into the throttle body or attempt to start the engine with the air cleaner removed. Doing so could result in serious injury.

Always wear protective gloves and eye wear before you begin servicing your car.
