A novice can replace the engine fan in a Nissan Sentra in about an hour, using little more than a wrench and a screwdriver.
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
Things You'll Need
Wrench
Screwdriver
1

Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable on your Nissan Sentra, then remove the radiator dynamic damper.
2

Unplug the fan's electrical connector, then loosen and remove the bolts holding the engine cooling fan in place against your vehicle's radiator. Place the bolts in a small container to prevent them from getting lost.
3

Lift the engine cooling fan assembly carefully out of the engine compartment and replace it with the new fan assembly. Tighten the mounting bolts to hold the new assembly in place.
4

Plug the engine cooling fan's electrical connector back into place, reinstall the radiator dynamic damper and reconnect the negative battery cable.
5

Start your vehicle's engine and check for coolant leaks, then verify that the engine cooling fan is operating properly.

Tips & Warnings

In cars from some model years, you may find it necessary to remove the upper radiator hose to gain more working space. Drain some coolant from the bottom of the radiator into a clean container, cover the container to protect it from debris and set it aside. Then unscrew or unbolt the hose clamp securing the upper radiator hose, carefully marking its location and orientation, and remove the upper radiator hose. Replace the radiator hose and refill the cooling system between Steps 3 and 4.

Your Nissan Sentra has an electrically operated engine cooling fan which may switch on at any time, even when the ignition is turned off. Because of this, make certain to disconnect the battery before replacing the fan.
